Central Muscle Cars
The Central Muscle Cars was established in 2002 to promote classic muscle car racing. Eligible production vehicles must be pre-1978 and at least 1000x units must have been manufactured within a twelve month period.
The Central Muscle Cars is run in two classes; Group One being for heavily modified machines with greater brake, wheel/tyre and composite material freedoms. Group Two cars are more standard with original bodywork and restricted modifications aimed more at the purist. All compete together on the race track, at the same time.
The annual series is traditionally raced over six rounds with points being awarded for qualifying and three races; made up of one scratch race, one staggered start reverse grid race and a full handicap race based on lap times.
The class is famous for its close and exciting racing on a road based, control tyre. Spectacular noise, power drifting, tyre smoke and a great variety of cars are the menu of the day. Both group championships are keenly contested, acceptable driving standards are self monitored by the club, and post race BBQ festivities and camaraderie are legendary.
Please see the Central Muscle Cars website for more information on the series, and to get involved.
