SS2000
2 Litre Racing at its Best!
For many, saloon car racing is what motor racing is all about whereby the competing cars bear some resemblance to those that have been driven on our roads, both past and present. SS2000 is no different in this respect, with the intention of providing a competitive well run race series, in an enjoyable yet relaxed atmosphere.
Having gained its roots from the “Shell Sport” series run in the late 70s and 80s, it featured drivers like Reg Cook, Ron Roycroft and Don Halliday in various Datsun Coupes and Ford Escorts.
Sanctioned by Motorsport NZ, SS2000 is a 7-round championship race series still primarily for modified saloon cars with engines of up to 2 litres. It’s not all about naturally aspirated engines though with provision for Rotary and turbo powered cars. There is a structured set of rules and regulations spreading across four different classes, with racing at all four North Island tracks.
Please see the SS2000 website for more information on the series, and to get involved.
