CLASSES

Super Mini Challenge

A racing class for Minis began in New Zealand in 1972 with the advent of the 850cc. During the mid 1990’s additional classes using the 1275 block expanded the series into the Super Mini Challenge. The performance of the Minis is impressive, with the top machines reaching speeds of over 200kph.

Past drivers in the series include names such as Jim Richards, Kayne Scott, Angus Fogg and Jason Richards.

The four classes of cars competing within the  Super Mini Challenge series are:

Mini 7: A closely regulated formula, 1000cc race engines.

Mini Miglia: Limited to 1380cc engines.

Super Mini: Maximum of 1400cc engines.

Open Mini: Freedom of specification, only limited to a Mini body shell, a transverse engine and front wheel drive.

All classes must have rollcages, compete on slick tyres and may use competition gearboxes.

Please see the Super Mini Challenge website for more information on the series, and to get involved.
